The Town of Sweden has been notified that the New York State Department of Transportation will be closing the bridge carrying Gallup Road over the Erie Canal in the towns of Ogden and Sweden, Monroe County, for maintenance activities. The bridge is scheduled to be closed by the first week of November and is anticipated to reopen in spring 2024. The DOT will post a detour route for motorists to follow. The nearest canal crossing in Sweden is the Sweden Walker Road bridge.
