Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) of Monroe County’s Nutrition Department has begun working with a new population in Sweden.
Over the last year, the department has been working to offer nutrition classes to the seniors at the Sweden Clarkson Recreation Center. After several successful lessons, Sweden Clarkson Recreation invited Ally Miller with the County Nutrition Department back to work with their youth during a Days Off from School day camp.
Ally partnered up with 4H-AmeriCorps Vista, Veronica Cisneros, to offer a mindful nutrition workshop to students of the town of Sweden. During their workshop, students learned what makes a healthy meal, listened to a story on mindfulness, prepared their own healthy snack during a cooking class, and practiced mindful eating while enjoying the cozy fall treat, they prepared as a group.
