Synthetic ice rink open at Ontario Beach Park
The synthetic ice rink at Ontario Beach Park in Rochester is now open for the season.
“Synthetic ice looks and feels like real ice and can be enjoyed all season no matter the weather conditions,” said County Executive Adam Bello. “The rink is covered with multiple benches and side boards, so it provides new skaters the ability to learn in a safe environment and returning skaters the ability to enjoy the outdoors all season long.”
“We want families to realize that village of Charlotte and Ontario Beach Park feature activities that can be enjoyed all year. We do not close the doors on Labor Day. Come down and try out Monroe County’s beautiful new rink,” said Charlotte Community Association President Tom Bruce.
The 4,440-square-foot synthetic ice rink is composed of 1/8-inch thick interlocking panels made of a high-density polymer specifically engineered for ice-skating.
Several professional hockey players, including Sidney Crosby, as well as figure skaters, including Canadian Olympic medal winner Elvis Stojko, endorse synthetic ice.
The rink is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily and will remain in use until next April to make room for summer rentals. Please remember to bring your own skates.
