CCE Monroe offering workshops on Managing Spotted Lanternfly

Colonies of Spotted Lanternfly (SLF) have been found in Monroe County. These invasive insects spread fast through their breeding habits. Further, their egg masses can survive harsh winters and produce 30 to 50 nymphs with each hatching. SLF are a threat to agriculture, in particular, the grape industry, and the NYS economy as a whole.

CCE Monroe’s Natural Resources program in partnership with NYS Integrated Pest Management and CCE Monroes Diagnostics Lab will be providing workshops for local municipalities and organizations upon request. The workshop will provide training in: how to best support mitigation efforts in stopping the spread of SLF, accessing resources available for public outreach, SLF behavioral patterns, threats, and concerns regarding the invasive insect on agriculture, providing current updates, and common misconceptions around the SLF. This workshop will be offered for $100 to municipalities and organizations.
