The Gates Greece Lions Club serves the community through its Medical Equipment Loan Closet, located at 1299 Long Pond Road behind the Annex building of the Greece Ridge Fire Department. It is a grey shed featuring the Lions emblem.
The Medical Equipment Loan Closet receives in excess of 1,000 calls per year from people needing short-term medical equipment loans, which are offered at no charge. Walkers (four-wheeled and two-wheeled), crutches, canes, commodes, shower chairs, transfer benches, transport wheelchairs, and regular wheelchairs are currently available for loan.
Equipment donations are accepted if the equipment is in good working condition and has been cleaned.
To support the Medical Equipment Loan Closet, the club is holding the 17th Annual Gates Greece Lions Snow Golf (with a 9-iron and a tennis ball) on Saturday, March 2, at Gates Lions Park, 100 Kentucky Avenue, Gates. No snow is required and anyone can play. There are 10 holes with natural and man-made obstacles. The price is $5 per round per person and the Lions provide the tennis ball and warmth and refreshments after your round (9-irons are available to rent for $1). There will be prizes for longest drive, closest to the hole, and lowest score.
