Hunter education course offered in Brockport
A free Hunter Education course is being offered at the Conservation Club of Brockport, 291 Ladue Road, Brockport, on Saturday, April 13, from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. Interested students may register on-line through the NYS DEC website at http://www.register-ed.com/events/view/202928.
This course is offered to persons interested in obtaining a New York State hunting license. Unlike the alternative online classes, it is offered free of charge. Safe firearm handling, elevated stand safety, hunting planning and safety are taught along with other New York State mandated content. A visit from an on-duty NYS Environmental Conservation Officer is always a highlight for both students and instructors. Students successfully completing the course are issued the Hunter Education Certificates of Qualification that are required to obtain small or large game hunting licenses. If you would like to hunt during the upcoming turkey season, this is the class that is needed.
Registered students may obtain a Student Manual containing the required homework at the Conservation Club during open hours, from the Town of Sweden offices, the Seymour Public Library, or any nearby DEC headquarters. The manual can also be downloaded from the DEC website. Download directions are provided during the registration process. Students should allow adequate time to prepare the mandatory homework.
