Camp Haccamo summer 2024 registration is now open

The Rotary Clubs of Monroe County will be hosting Camp Haccamo for its 68th season: dates are July 29 through August 2 for ages seven to 18, and August 5 through 9, for ages 19 to 30.

Linda Platt and her son, Sol, are pictured at camp last year. Linda says Camp Haccamo provided an amazing experience for her son. “He’s benefited significantly, gained independence, made new friends, and learned new social skills. In fact, he wants everyone to know that Camp Haccamo is very inclusive, and the best part is the carnival at the end!”

Camp Haccamo is a unique summer camp designed to provide a free and enjoyable camping experience for children and adults with a wide range of special needs. Highlights include:
•24/7 nursing care ensures the safety and well-being of campers.
•The counselor-to-camper ratio is one counselor per two campers.
•Children and adults with acute special needs can participate in a weeklong, overnight camping experience.
•Families receive a respite, knowing their loved ones are in good hands and well cared for.
•Special events, including ziplining, the iconic Haccamo Railroad, carnival nights, a talent show, water sports, and a prom, add to the fun and memorable camp experience.

Camp Haccamo’s supportive environment fosters growth and acceptance while helping campers overcome roadblocks and obstacles. “There’s a great need for programs like ours geared for emotionally fragile and behaviorally challenged children and adults,” says Dolly Kujawa, longtime executive director at Camp Haccamo. “Our counselors are familiar with the anxieties they face and know how to help them develop news skills and achieve a certain level of confidence during their week at camp.”

Camp Haccamo is supported by 13 dedicated Rotary Clubs: Brighton, Brockport, Fairport, Gates Chili, Hilton, Honeoye Falls-Mendon, Irondequoit, Monroe South, Penfield, Pittsford, Rush Henrietta, Spencerport, and Webster.
