Sweden updates April 8 Eclipse parking plan
The Town of Sweden continues to update its April 8 Eclipse public safety plan, including parking restrictions at Town-owned facilities. The Sweden Town Hall parking lot at 18 State Street will be open on April 8 as usual. The Sweden Town Park’s front parking lot will be open beginning at 6 a.m. The rest of the Town Park at 4761 Redman Road will be closed to vehicular traffic on April 8. There is never any overnight parking at the Town Park and signs will alert visitors to that effect.
There are roughly 100 parking spots in the Town Park parking lot closest to Redman Road. While law enforcement has warned the Town that traffic will be especially heavy on Redman Road due to the eclipse event being held on the SUNY Brockport campus, the Town has decided to make those 100 spots available while restricting traffic through the rest of the park. The park is fully open to pedestrians; sidewalks connect the village of Brockport and SUNY Brockport populations to the park.
Finally, the Sweden/Clarkson Community Center parking lot will be closed for the day due to the narrowness of Bader’s Way and the accessibility of Royal Gardens to emergency vehicles.
