Charles the Mule is a new addition to the Spencerport Depot & Canal Museum. This art and history education project was spearheaded by former Museum Director, Simon Devenish. Mural artist, Michele Jenco, spent hundreds of hours on the piece which depicts various aspects of Ogden and Spencerport history. There is everything from the area’s heritage as a canal, trolley and railroad town, to local churches and businesses (like Matheos Ice Cream and Ogden Telephone), a flaming outhouse in reference to a long-ago Halloween tradition, and even the more recent Spencerport Bandit.
