Over 20 Brockport students participated in a Canal Clean Sweep event on Earth Day. Students were from the Rotaract Club, Psychology, Environmental Science, Pre-Professional Health Careers, Phi Epsilon Kappa, the Dance Team and more. They walked the trail to pick up litter and debris as part of an annual Earth Week clean-up. Together they collected over 20 trash bags of litter, bottles, fishing line, cardboard and more.
Members of the Spencerport Rotary and friends cleaned up the canal in Spencerport for Earth Day. Volunteers literally got down into the canal to pick up litter, cans and trash. Volunteering were Rotarians Simon Devenish, Ann DeMers and Dave DeMers, as well as community volunteers Mark Whitehair, Kristina Martin and Barbara Scottow. These statewide clean up events were sponsored by Parks and Trails New York, the New York State Canal Corporation and the Erie Canalway Trail. Provided information and photos.
