Non-profits can now apply for ARPA grant funding

Non-profit organizations in Qualified Census Tracts can now apply for direct operating aid grants due to the lingering impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The $6 million American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grant fund is part of a $25 million ARPA package passed by the Monroe County Legislature on August 13, 2024.

“As our community continues to recover from the pandemic, many of our non-profits need support in meeting the increasing demand for essential services. Direct operating aid for these organizations is vital and will provide increased financial stability as they continue serving the needs of our residents,” said County Executive Adam Bello. “Thank you to the Monroe County Legislature for unanimously supporting this effort to help us Bring Monroe Back stronger than ever. A special thank you to Congressman Joe Morelle and Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand for securing these transformative ARPA funds. ”

To be eligible for the grant funding, applicants must:
•Be a non-profit corporation authorized to do business in New York State;
•Be registered with the New York Charities Bureau;
•Operate a physical location in a Qualified Census Tract in Monroe County from at least 2019 to the present
•Have at least 51% of operations take place in Qualified Census Tracts in Monroe County from at least 2019 to the present; and
•Have filed a Form 990 in 2022 and 2023.

“Our nonprofit community is working to ensure county residents have the supportive services necessary to recover from pandemic era challenges,” said Yversha Roman, President of the Monroe County Legislature. “In return, we have a duty to ensure our nonprofit sector has the resources available to continue these efforts. I am pleased the work was done to get this much needed funding out to organizations on the ground doing the hard work to address the needs of Monroe County residents.”

The Request for Qualifications and additional eligibility requirements must be downloaded from https://webapps.monroecounty.gov/bid/list/rfps. Applications must be submitted by September 13.
