It was planned to be a relatively brief Meet and Greet, but the questions and conversations kept coming, so for more than an hour Judge Michael Ansaldi engaged with voters on August 24 at the Seymour Library. Due to the promotion of Monroe County Court Judge Meridith Vacca to the federal bench in August, local Democrats assembled on short notice to select a candidate to be on the ballot in November. This unusual situation was explored, and participants had lots of questions about the limits of what judicial candidates can and cannot say as part of their campaign. The bottom line – does a candidate have experience in doing the specialized work of a judge?
