Award-winning writer Alicia Elliott to present the Ingersoll Reading at REOC
Award-winning Mohawk writer Alicia Elliott will discuss her work at the Rochester Educational Opportunity Center, 161 Chestnut Street, Rochester, as part of the Ingersoll Reading, a premier event of SUNY Brockport’s Writers Forum, on November 6 at 7:30 p.m.
Elliot is the author of And Then She Fell, a national bestseller in Canada that has garnered accolades including the Indigenous First Voices Award and the Amazon First Novel Award. The novel was also recognized as one of the best books of 2023 by both the Globe and Mail and CBC.
In addition to Elliot’s fiction, her 2019 memoir, A Mind Spread Out On The Ground, received praise from prestigious publications such as The New York Times, Vogue, and the Toronto Star. Her short fiction has been featured in esteemed anthologies, including The Best American Short Stories and Best Canadian Stories.
The Ingersoll Reading is an annual event held during the Fall semester as part of the Writer’s Forum series and is presented with the support of the Ingersoll Family Foundation.
