The 2024 General Election is over, and while the presidential vote did not go as Democrats hoped, they found much to celebrate in Monroe County. The Sweden Democratic Committee and friends gathered at the Seymour Library on Saturday, November 16, to mourn, to celebrate, and to map out 2025 plans. Previous Assistant Leader David Newman was elected leader, succeeding Karen LoBracco who is moving out of state. Rory Schnurr was elected Assistant Leader.
The recent presidential race challenged some family and neighbor relationships in negative ways, but it also triggered energy and renewed civic engagement in groups of people, some of which spontaneously popped up. That energy was evident at the meeting in the hopes and ideas shared and plans made.
