During 2024, the Town of Sweden formed the LaDue, Swamp & West Sweden Road Water District. The town recently received notification that the $11.2 million project will be funded by the United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development. The funding will be in the form of a $6.75 million grant and a 2.5% loan of $4.45 million to be repaid by residents in the district. The town has worked closely with its engineers and grant writers at the MRB Group to receive this favorable funding. There are numerous steps before residents in this district have public water in their homes. However, this is a significant step forward for this project.
