National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence – Rochester Area holding annual luncheon

DePaul’s National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence – Rochester Area (NCADD-RA) is holding their annual luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, at the DoubleTree by Hilton, 1111 Jefferson Road, Rochester. Keynote speaker Dr. Bertha Madras, a professor of Psychobiology at Harvard Medical School, will present “Marijuana and Psychedelics: Essential Facts Everyone Should Know.”
Dr. Madras’ research has focused on neurobiology, pharmacology, brain imaging, drug discovery for addiction, neuropsychiatric disorders, and drug policy. She is author of over 200 scientific manuscripts, articles, book chapters and co-editor of books involving addiction, the effects of drug abuse on the human nervous system. Dr. Madras is a recipient of 19 U.S. and 27 international issued patents with collaborators.
The NCADD-RA provides research-based and evidence-based substance use disorder and problem gambling prevention services to a diverse population through education, support, resources, advocacy and referral.
NCADD-RA staff provide community education and awareness presentations on a variety of addiction-related topics tailored to requesting school or community groups. NCADD-RA also provides a wide array of training opportunities for professionals in the addictions, education, and health and human services community.
