Brockport Police Officers responded to the 200 block of State Street, a commercial zoned area in the village, on September 27 at approximately 3:15 p.m. for the report of a dead body found in an overgrown thicket. The body appeared to be of an adult male that had been at the location for several days if not longer.
The Brockport Police Department, in collaboration with the East Rochester Police Department, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, and Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office, has since been able to positively identify the deceased individual as 73-year-old Thomas Soward of East Rochester.
The investigation continues to support the conclusion that no criminality contributed to Mr. Soward’s passing and there is no risk to the community. Even though there is no indication of foul play, the cause of death is still being investigated by the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office.
