Brockport Community Museum installs replacement marker

In May 2022 the Brockport Community Museum, in cooperation with the Village of Brockport and the William G. Pomeroy Foundation, installed a new roadside historic marker at 36 Erie Street in the village. The marker recognized the importance of the Buffalo, Lockport & Rochester Railway and its depot at that location. The Depot building still stands and was formerly known as the Colonial Inn, Angus O’Briens and Flash’s Tavern.

Unfortunately, the marker was stolen in January of 2024 and has not been recovered. Thanks to the generosity of the William G. Pomeroy Foundation and Alexander’s Convenience Center in Brockport, a replacement marker has been re-installed at its former location. Each funded half the marker’s $1,900 cost, for which BCM is grateful.

This is just one example of the commitment of local businesses to the community they serve. Please support all of Brockport’s local businesses during this difficult time with the extended bridge closure. Don’t forget Alexander’s, located at 4118 Lake Road North, and if you stop by, be sure to say thanks to Brad Alexander.

The Brockport Community Museum is a “museum without walls” committed to bringing local history to residents and visitors (https://www.brockportcommunitymuseum.org/).
