OBITUARIES – WEEK OF JULY 7, 2013

BROCKPORT

•Walker, William C., Suddenly June 24, 2013. Predeceased by his father, Ward. Survived by his loving wife, Eleanor “Sis”; children, Christine and Brian Walker; mother Elizabeth Walker; brother, Robert (Christina) Walker; aunt, Helen Mosher; uncle, Stewart “Gene” Walker; brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. William served in the US Navy, in Vietnam.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated July 1 at St. John The Evanglist Church, Spencerport. Interment at the convenience of the family.

 

CHILI

•Burke, Paul E., June 29, 2013. Predeceased by his wife, Betty Burke and son, Steven Burke. Survived by his son, Tim (Beverly) Burke; grandsons, Brady and Nicholas (Aleece); sister, Kathleen Foy; several nieces and nephews. Paul served in the Army Air Corps during WWII and was a life member of the Harvey C. Noone Post. Paul was a charter member and active participant of the Churchville Moose Lodge #2244, and was a member of the Moose Legion and achieved the Pilgrim Degree. He was also the honorary President for the New York State Moose Association.

A Graveside Service was held July 6 in Creekside Cemetery, Churchville. Donations can be sent to the Churchville Moose Lodge #2244, 5709 Chili Riga Center Road, Churchville, NY 14428 in his memory.

 

•McCarthy, Geraldine L., June 26, 2013, at age 91. Predeceased by her mother, Victoria L. Deans; her granddaughter, Christine McCarthy. Gerry is survived by her children, James (Carol), Gerald (Jackie), Patricia (Al) Schmitt, Carol (Tim) Corrigan and Shawn (Jann); eight grandchildren, JR, Kyle, Jill, Keri, Erin, Katie, Nathan and Matthew; 12 great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service was held July 1 at St. Pius the Tenth Church, Chili. Interment, Grove Place Cemetery. Donations can be made to Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center, 2652 Ridgeway Avenue, Rochester, NY 14626 in her memory.

 

•Strobel, Carl W., Age 97 of North Chili, on June 29, 2013 at the Livingston County CNR in Mount Morris. US Navy Veteran of WWII. Predeceased by his wife Mary (Johnson) Strobel and all of his brothers and sisters. He is survived by his two children, Bonnie (Rick) Abbott-Jamison of Ocala, Florida and Terry (Terry) Strobel of Bergen; two grandchildren; one great grandchild; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Memorial Service was held July 5 at the John W. Martin Funeral Home, Mount Morris. Interment in Leicester Cemetery with full Military Honors. Contributions can be made to Pearce Memorial Free Methodist Church, 4322 Buffalo Road, North Chili, NY 14514 in his memory.

 

NORTH CHILI

•Sherman, Beatrice M. (Feiddler), Formerly of Spencerport, June 24, 2013, age 102. Beatrice was predeceased by her husband, Walter L. Sherman of 65 year and Ernest her son, and her parents. She is survived by Agnes Cooley of California, Beatrice Radford-Mitchell (Jim) of Colorado, Dealia Robinson (Gene) of Florida, Walter Sherman (Joan) of Bergen, John Sherman of Texas, Ruth Westcott (Bill) of Texas, Katherine Sulimowicz and longtime loving friend, Richard VerHeecke of Rochester, Iva Davenport of Vermont, Suzanne Lloyd (George) of Arizona; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Her Funeral Service was held July 2 at Walker Brothers Funeral Home, Inc., Spencerport. Interment, Garland Cemetery. Donations can be made to Lifetime Care, 3111 South Winton Road, Rochester 14623 in her memory.

 

SPENCERPORT

•Capone, Sandra K. “Sandy,” on June 23, 2013 at age 50. Sandy is predeceased by her father, Dalton Abbott; father-in-law, John Capone; and beloved “little boy” Simba. She is survived by her loving husband of 21 years, Nick; mother Georgia (Robert) Morgan; sister, Debbie (Steve) Kuitems; brothers, Rob (Renee) Abbott and Dan Morgan; mother-in-law, Angela Petrillo Capone; brother-in-law, Orrie (Mary) Capone; goddaughter and niece, Ashley Kuitems; nephews and nieces, Spencer and Kreg Abbott, JR and Nicki Clark, Connor Morgan and John and Gina Capone; best buddy, Karen Hanson; several uncles, aunts, cousins, extended Petrillo family, and close friends. Sandy was passionate and proud about her work in the Monroe County Judicial system at the Hall of Justice for 30 years, serving in various positions and currently as Secretary to Monroe County Court Judge, Honorable Vincent M. Dinolfo.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated July 1 at Sacred Heart Cathedral. Entombment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Donations can be made to the Humane Society at Lollypop Farm, 99 Victor Road, Fairport, NY 14450 or School of the Holy Childhood, 100 Groton Parkway, Rochester, NY 14623 in her memory.

 

•Rice, Miriam “Jo,” Suddenly on June 30, 2013 of respiratory complications. Jo was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and moved to Spencerport with her husband and sons. Predeceased by her husband, Jack Rice and son, Dan Rice. She is survived by her sons, David Rice and Dennis Rice; granddaughters, Chelsie (Heather Dobbins) Rice and Courtney Rice.

Funeral Services were held July 5 at Walker Brothers Funeral Home, Inc., Spencerport. Interment in Fairfield Cemetery. Donations can be sent to the Aurora House, 2495 South Union Street, Spencerport, NY 14559 in her memory.
