Elinor L. Rutenberg
•Rutenberg, Elinor L., age 89 formerly of Albion, died February 21, 2014 in the Champlain Valley Physician’s Hospital, in Plattsburgh with her family at her side. Elinor was a teacher having taught Kindergarten at St. Mary’s Catholic School, Holley, prior to teaching in the Albion School System for 21 years. She was a past President of the Business and Professional Women’s Club, having started the 1st International Exchange Program for that organization. She also volunteered for the Orleans County Office for the Aging. Mrs. Rutenberg was predeceased by two infant children, Elinor and Johnny, a sister, Donna Ambeau and her husband Thomas in 1963. She is survived by her sons, Thomas (Karen) Rutenberg II of Minnesota, Charles (Lynn) Rutenberg of Colorado; her daughters, Patricia (Martin) Adduci of Lime Lake, Laurie (Jeffrey) Reynolds of Pt. Kent; her sister, Donna (Richard) Ambeau of Webster; 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 21 West Avenue, Albion, Thursday, April 10 from 4 to 7 p.m. Family and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial Friday, April 11 at 11 a.m. in Holy Family Parish. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Donations can be made to the Palliative Care Program at Champlain Valley Physician’s Hospital in Plattsburgh or the Make A Wish Foundation in her memory.
