•Burchfield, Ila Mitchell, 88, of Southern Pines, North Carolina, Sunday, June 29 at St. Joseph of the Pines.
Ila was born on August 15, 1925 in Greensboro, Alabama. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Arie Mitchell. She lived in Morton from 1944 to 1970. Ila was an employee of General Electric, Johnson Brothers Construction, and Moore Regional Hospital. She retired from Moore Regional Hospital in 1989 as Secretary of the Plant Operation Department.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William W. Burchfield; son, James Elliott Burchfield and several siblings.
She is survived by sons, Thomas Burchfield (Pat) of Littleton, Colorado, Randall Burchfield (Kathy) of Surf City; one daughter, Sue Snipes (Roy) of Southern Pines. Mrs. Burchfield has four grandchildren, Jennifer, Lisa, Jeremy and Kelsey. She is also survived by her siblings in Alabama; twin sister, Lila and brothers, Linden and John.
A Graveside Service will be held at Lakeside Cemetery, Hamlin on July 19 at 11 a.m. Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, 8300 Health Park, Suite 10, Raleigh, North Carolina 27615 or a charity of one’s choice in her memory.
