•Haines, Joette McKenna, age 76, died July 13, 2014. She was born November 7, 1937 in Albion, to Joseph A. McKenna and Mary D. McKenna. Joey, as she was known to many, graduated from Albion High School in 1955 and earned a bachelor’s degree from Brockport State College in 1959. She retired from the Medina school system in 1992 after more than 30 years as a primary school teacher and reading specialist. Joey and her husband, Gene are charter members of the Oak Orchard Neighborhood Association (OONA) and avid supporters of the Oak Orchard Lighthouse Association. Joey is survived by her husband of 54 years, Eugene Haines; her sisters Karen Carroll and Margot O’Halloran; her brother John McKenna and sister-in-law Karen; nine nieces, eleven nephews and loving extended family.
Her Memorial Mass was said July 16 at Holy Family Parish-St. Joseph’s Church in Albion. Donations can be made to The Oak Orchard Lighthouse Association, P.O. Box 23, Kent, NY 14477 or Hospice of Orleans, 14080 Route 31, Albion, NY 14411 in her memory.
