Donald G. Beaman
•Beaman, Donald G., of Charlemont, Massachusettes, age 81, died August 27, 2014 from surgical complications. Don was born March 29, 1933 in Churchville. He was a Veteran of the Korean War. A scenic artist, Don received his BFA and MFA from Carnegie Tech in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He taught at Carnegie Tech, Penn State University, and – for 26 years – at Boston University. He designed scenery at theaters and summer stock playhouses from coast to coast, including The Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. An inspiring teacher, brilliant artist, Egyptologist, student of classical geometry, philosopher, Don’s tarot deck, Tarot of Saqqara, was published in March of 2013. He led workshops in metaphysical studies and pilgrimages to Saqqara, Egypt. He is survived by his three children, Alex Beaman of San Jose, California, James Beaman of New York City and Clea Beaman of Beverly, Massachusetts. He leaves behind six grandchildren. Prof. Beaman is also survived by four siblings: Kenneth Beaman of Ogden, Larry Beaman of Bergen, Diana Hamill of Rochester and Linda Dougherty of Spencerport.
A Celebration of his Life will be held October 18, 2014 in the Adams Room of The United Methodist Church of North Chili.
