•Longo, Stefano, Gates: Stefano completed his earthly journey on November 5, 2014 and is now in heaven with his predeceased, dear son Frank Longo. For years Stefano suffered from a series of illnesses and did it gallantly. He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Mary K., who was deeply loving and devoted to Stefano. They were each other’s love and best friend. Playing cards together each evening brought Stefano joy, along with dining with his wife and surviving, cherished son Antonio Longo. Antonio was a fierce advocate for his father during his dad’s final months. Other survivors include his sister Gianna (Italy) along with a large extended family all of Italy. Along with his son Frank, Stefano was predeceased by his parents Angelina and Antonio Longo (Italy) and brother Giuseppe (Italy).
Stefano was born in 1937 in the beautiful town of Torre Faro, Sicily right by the Mediterranean Sea. There, as a young boy, he experienced WWII. At age 9, he and his family moved to Genoa, Italy. He always missed his homeland. It brought Stefano great joy when, as a family, we visited his homeland and he so proudly introduced his beloved children to his family.
Stefano is a retiree of The Gleason Works. There he worked for 32 years with most of those years as a group leader in the large Shipping Dept. Together we happily lived out his last years at Dunn Tower I in Gates where he was very much liked and respected. His beautiful, caring smile brought sunshine to everyone. He will be missed by so many. In Stefano’s memory he would want us to remember and practice kindness in our daily lives.
