•Kalmbacher, Phyllis (Dash), Bergen: December 26, 2014 at the age of 91. She was predeceased by her brother, Arnold Best; husband, Harold Dash. Survived by their 3 daughters, Cheryl (Steve) Valvano of Churchville, NY, Deanna (Marc) Lands of Ellijay, GA, and Jacalyn (David) Ferreira of West Palm Beach, FL. She re-married and was preceded in death by Earl Kalmbacher. Survived by 2 step daughters: Anna (Gordon) Dutter of Springwater, NY, and Peggy Kalmbacher (Ken Safranec) of Matthews, NC. She is also survived by her brother, Charles Eugene (Esther) Best; 7 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Phyllis loved being a nurse along with gardening and bird watching. She was a member of Union Congregational United Church of Christ.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Union Congregational Church, Churchville. Following the service family and friends will gather for continued remembrance.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Phyllis’ memory to Crossroads House (a comfort care home), P.O.
