•Cannarozzo, James “Papa” “Poppy”, Gates: January 19, 2015, at age 79, died peacefully surrounded by his family. Predeceased by his brothers, Thomas and Joe Cannarozzo; sisters, Mary Aulbach and Jennie Hasenauer. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Marie (Fichera) Cannarozzo; children, Susan (Scott) Stafford, Vincent (Roxanne) Cannarozzo, Bridget (Nick) Nanna; grandchildren, Amanda Stafford, Alyssa and Andrea Cannarozzo, Alicia, Michael and Joey Nanna; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Sam Fichera, Nino and Sina Fichera of Valguarnera, Sicily, John and Frances Fichera, Rosalie Amatore, Sam Pecora of Melbourne, Australia, Lucy Cannarozzo. He is loved by many nieces and nephews here in the United States, as well as in Australia and Sicily.
Jim was a retiree of General Motors and was an exceptional carpenter. He enjoyed traveling, especially to see family in Italy and Australia. Jim was an avid card player, playing at least once a week with his card club. He also cherished time with his dear friends at Dunkin Donuts in Gates.
Friends may call FRIDAY from 1-3 and 6-8PM at the DiPonzio Funeral Home, Inc., 219 Spencerport Rd., Gates. On Saturday, January 24, friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass at 10:00AM in Holy Ghost Church, 220 Coldwater Rd. Entombment, White Haven Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to , 160 Allens Creek Rd., Rochester, NY 14618 in his memory. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff or the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit at Rochester General Hospital for their excellent care and compassion given to Jim.
