•Barlow, Gerald R. “Jerry”, Hilton: October 5, 2015 just 4 days shy of his 83rd birthday. Predeceased by father Ransome Barlow, mother Margaret Frisch Barlow Sauer, brother Ronald Barlow & niece Deborah Barlow. Survived by his loving wife and best friend of almost 54 years, Renate Hillenbrand Barlow; daughter, Christine Nagel; sons, Thomas (Sherrill) Barlow & Michael (Gina Robson) Barlow; grandsons, Bryan (Lacee Thorsen) Nagel, Eric (Meghan Creighton) Nagel & Caleb Nagel; granddaughters, Kelly (Kenny Valone) Nagel, Robin Nagel & Sandra Nagel; sisters-in-law, Donna Schneider Barlow, Manuela (Larry) Bliss, Karen (Ralph) Strempel & Jutta Schwartz; niece, Patricia (Michael) Reed & nephews, Martin Barlow & Rene Schwartz; along with many cousins and friends the world over; his most loved and trusted puppy, Penny.
He retired from Gannett Newspapers after 40 years of service. His many hobbies included Ham Radio Operator, having his own single engine float plane which turned into a down payment on the house, single engine airplane flight instructor, collecting and later selling militaria, fishing in Bob’s Lake Ont. Canada with the Walleye Fishing Club, traveling within the states with his family including Grandma, taking the big trip to Germany with the family to visit and meet many of his best friend’s family, taking more trips to Europe including cruises, spending winters with his best friend in that truck camper at Knight’s Key in Marathon, FL and later in Rincon De Guayabitos, Nayarit, Mexico. Many thanks to our primary care physician Benson Zoghlin and the staff at Hilton Health Care; the doctors, nurses and techs at RGH especially units 7000 & 5400 for the marvelous care you gave him along with Lakeside Beikirch NH, HCR Home Care and Wesley Gardens for rehab and especially to Hildebrandt Hospice for making his last days on earth pain free and comfortable.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 4-7 at the THOMAS E. BURGER FUNERAL HOME, 735 East Ave., Hilton. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 3747 Brick Schoolhouse Rd., Hamlin on Thursday at 10 AM. A reception will follow Mass at church. Burial will be held privately, Parma Union Cemetery.
