Helen Balling Keable
Brockport, NY: Helen Balling Keable, 80, of Brockport, NY passed away peacefully on July 10, 2016 after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Born on September 22, 1935 in Terre Haute, Indiana to Paul and Frances Balling (deceased). After raising five children, she became an Executive Administrator at the Monroe County Juvenile Detention Center retiring in 2004.
Helen was a beautiful person who loved and was loved by the many who were fortunate enough to have known her. Her physical health may have failed her but her spirit, good humor, and kindness never faltered. She was a very special person.
Helen is survived by her children Tom (Ellen) Keable, Tim (Nikki) Keable, Sue (Philip) Glotfelty, Karen (Bob) Blackwell, Betsy (Jeff) Whiting and their children and grandchildren; her siblings Marion Teamerson, John Balling, Dodie (Ray) Maier, Frank (Jane) Balling, and Jeff (Mary) Balling and their families; and other members of her extended family.
She was very proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, spending most of her retirement visiting with them. She enjoyed a competitive game of cards, singing and playing the piano, watching the Buffalo Bills and professional ice-skating and was an avid reader.
Her family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, July 13th from 5-8 p.m. at the Fowler Funeral Home in Brockport, NY. The funeral service will be held at the Fowler Funeral Home on Thursday, July 14th at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Brockport.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to some amazing relatives and neighbors as well as the nurses and aides at the Martin-Linsin Residence for providing such loving care of their mother. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen’s name to Hospice of Orleans County, a hospice care center of your choosing or to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
