Gates: Verna E. Rex, (Renaud) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at the age of 94. She was predeceased by her husband Stanley F. Rex, her son, John J. Rex, grandson Samuel Rex, and her brother Eldon J. Renaud. Verna was survived by her children, Jeffrey Rex (Cathi), Mary Beth Steele (Mike Ross), Patricia Ensman (James), Margaret Reff (Mitch); along with her grandchildren, Jeffrey Rex, Christina Rampello (Jeff Harell), Danielle Sedor (Tom), Haley Reff (Nick), Rachel Reff, Chad, Kylee and Kacie Bassett. Verna is also survived by great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Verna was a graduate of East High School and the University of Rochester. Prior to her retirement she was an elementary school teacher for many years in the Rochester City School District.
Calling hours are scheduled for Thursday, December 1, 2016 from 3:00 -7:00 at the Leo Bean Funeral Home, 2771 Chili Ave, Rochester, NY. A Mass celebrating her life will be held at St. Helen’s Church, 310 Hinchey Road, Rochester, NY. on Friday, December 2, 2016 at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Landmark Society of Rochester, New York, or the Rochester Philharmonic.
