Spencerport – Bruce died peacefully at home on August 14, 2018 at age 96. He was predeceased by his parents Fred and Agnes Dean; first wife, Josephine W. Dean; daughters, Susan Hill and Sarah Ludwig; siblings, E. Paul Dean, Agnes Lazar, Byron Dean, Frederick Dean, Florence Clemm Schaefer and Winifred Vaughn. Survived by siblings, Allan Dean of Swannanoa, NC and G. Robert (Nancy) Dean of Spencerport, NY; sons, Harold Dean, David (Marcie) Dean and Peter (Be Vang) Dean. Bruce is also survived by his wife, Nancy Hill Dean; daughter, Elaine (Alex) Grigg Dean; son, Frederick Dean; 10 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank Lifetime Care, Inc. for all their support and care during Bruce’s final months at home on hospice. Bruce graduated from John Marshall High School, followed by the U of R and Colgate Rochester Divinity School. He was Pastor at UCC churches in the Chicago area, Maquoketa, Iowa and Westbury, NY, then worked as a probation officer in NYC until his retirement. A Memorial Service will be held at Ogden Baptist Church 721 Washington St., Spencerport Sunday, October 7, 2018 at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ogden Baptist Church, 721 Washington St. Spencerport, NY 14559 or WXXI 280 State St., Rochester, NY 14614 in Bruce’s memory.
