Passed away peacefully August 25, 2019 in Leesburg, Florida at the age of 79.
Predeceased by her parents Joseph and Agnes Reed of Rochester, New York and her loving husband of 57 years, Howard E. Hovey. She is also predeceased by her brothers, Donald, Robert (Helen) and Gordon Reed.
Karen is survived by her daughters, Kim (Jay) Daly and Pam O’Grady. She is survived by six grandchildren, Justin Smith, Michael Daly, Kayla Smith, April Daly, Kirsten O’Grady and Katrina Daly. In addition she is survived by her sisters in law Doris (Dottie) Ogletree, Laura Reed and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Karen is a 1958 graduate of John Marshall High School, Rochester, NY. Karen worked at Eastman Savings Bank before taking time off to start and raise a family. She then worked for several years at Spencerport Central High School as a cafeteria monitor then at Dandelion Daycare Center where she retired in 1992.
In 1994 Karen and Howard relocated to Florida where they lived happily together. During those years they enjoyed taking many cruises together and going to the Daytona 500. Karen will be missed dearly by all.
Calling hours will be held from 10-11AM on Saturday September 28th at Fowler Funeral Home Inc., 340 West Ave., Brockport, NY. A Memorial Service will follow at 11AM. Interment, Garland Cemetery. Luncheon will then be held at 1 pm. at Red Fedele’s Brookhouse, 920 Elmridge Center Drive, Rochester, NY. Donations in her name can be made to the Reed Family Scholarship Fund at Greece Baptist Church.
