Medina – formerly of Brockport; Shirley M. Hicks, also known as “GG”, 86, passed away August 6, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. Shirley was born February 7, 1934 in Brockport, NY a daughter of the late Harris and Helen (Johnson) Rich. Shirley was a former employee of GM, and a member of the United Methodist Church. She enjoyed meeting every day at the Country Club Restaurant in Medina to socialize with her friends. Shirley enjoyed crocheting, knitting and playing cards, especially, euchre, hearts, and skip bo.
Shirley was predeceased by her husband Richard L. Hicks; son, Robert K. Hicks; 2 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Russ Doud; son-in-law, Fred Pettyjohn; brothers, George and Jim Rich; sister, Marlene Rook. She is survived by her sons, Daniel (Debra) Hicks, Richard (Suzie) Hicks; daughters, Donna (Jimmy) Tarte, Nancy Pettyjohn; 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Fred (Carol) Rich and Terry (Maryellen) Rich; sisters-in-law, Rosa Rich and June Doud; several nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends.
The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell funeral Homes, Inc. 21 W. Avenue, Albion on Thursday August 13, from 10:00-1:00pm. A private funeral service will be held at 1:00pm followed by burial at Mt. Albion Cemetery at 2:00.
