Thomas A. Connor
Hilton – October 8, 2020, age 92. Thomas A. Connor was born May 29, 1928, in Rochester, NY, to T. Arthur Connor and Eliza (Hess) Connor. Tom enjoyed his youth along the Genesee River and in the19th Ward portion of the city. After graduating Aquinas Institute, he attended Marquette University where he studied electrical engineering. He returned to the Rochester area and worked for Delco until he was drafted in to the US Army. Later he worked for Bendix and CVC Products until his retirement.
As a young man, Tom was an avid and accomplished skier. It was while skiing that he met Carol Schrenker, of Rome, NY, who later became his wife. Together they raised a daughter and two sons. It is to their credit that all three children entered professions in the service to their community.
In retirement, Tom kept busy volunteering at Greece Volunteer Ambulance, The Red Cross and Charlotte-Genesee Lighthouse. He was an avid reader and enjoyed learning new things. Tom could talk knowledgeably about an amazing array of topics from shipping to energy production to how the cones in your eyes work. Tom surprised his son when, at the age of 75, he decided to try telemark skiing!
Tom is survived by his children, Terese Abrams, Thomas (Rachel) Connor and Arthur (Melissa) Connor and his grandchildren Amanda, Thomas, Jennifer, Hailey and Kailyn. He is predeceased by his wife Carol, his parents and his siblings MaryAnn Connor, John Connor and Rosemary Kessenich.
There will be no calling hours and internment will be a private family affair.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to FoodLink of Rochester, which was Tom’s preferred charity. www.burgerfuneralhome.com
