Dr. William J. Dadey
Chili – Sunday, February 7, 2021 at age 80. Predeceased by his son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Pamela (Nicholson) Dadey; granddaughter, MaKenna Dadey; parents, Leo and Gertrude Dadey; siblings, Dr. John Dadey, Mary Jane Murphy and Richard Dadey. Survived by his loving wife, Ann; children, Michael (Rachel), Patrick, Colleen (Brian) Kelly and Christopher; grandchildren, Meghan, Dylan and Evan Kelly, Camryn, Kaitlyn and Ryenne Dadey; brother, Thomas (Joan) Dadey; close family friend, Amie Santillo; and many nieces and nephews.
Bill was a proud graduate of Syracuse University, where he earned many degrees, including his PhD. He earned his varsity letter as a member of the golf team and was also a member of the marching band. Dr. Dadey was Superintendent of Gates-Chili School District from 1977-2003. He received many awards throughout his career, including NYS Superintendent of the Year in 1994. His beloved Syracuse University also honored him with the Letter Winner of Distinction Award in 1998. After retirement, Bill volunteered at Monroe Community Hospital for many years. Bill and Ann spent their winters in Florida playing golf. Bill enjoyed summers on the St. Lawrence River fishing and boating with his family.
Friends are invited to his Funeral Mass Friday 10AM at St. Pius Tenth Church, 3000 Chili Ave. (Seating will be limited due to Covid restrictions) Interment, St. Pius Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, for those wishing, contributions in Bill’s name may be made to his granddaughter, MaKenna’s, memorial fund.
