Rochester/Florida – Marilynn Jean Morgan was born September 9, 1932 in Rochester, NY to loving, doting parents John and Dorothy Morgan.
In her 20th year, Marilynn attended a local USO dance with a friend.Through the doors walked a handsome young man in uniform. It only took one look at him and Marilynn told her friend, “I’m going to marry that man!” On February 7, 1953, Marilynn did indeed wed James Walter Collier, Sr. They were married for 51 wonderful years and raised six children together. Marilynn was a full-time mother and homemaker, often babysitting children of friends and neighbors, and later worked with Trailways Bus Lines. In their retirement years, Marilynn and Jim relocated to sunny Florida, where she was an avid reader and an active member of the community. She attended Bible Sunday, participated in local Reader’s Theatre groups, and rocked the community Bingo nights!
In her final years, Marilynn lived with her son Rob, who cared for her with selfless devotion, as she had always done for him.
Marilynn was predeceased by her beloved husband, Jim, and by their daughter, Donna Collier Hamilton. She is survived by her sons James, Jr. (Freida) of York, SC; Stephen (Cynthia) of Allyn, WA; Richard (Margie) of Columbus, NC; Robert of Temple Terrace, FL; and David of Brockport, NY.
Marilynn was an amazing matriarch to a large and very crazy family, including 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. On February 11, 2021, she was called to her true and final home to be with the Lord our Savior in his gracious and never ending love. Our Mom/Grandma will be forever in our hearts and our thoughts. Until we meet again, you and Dad/Grandpa enjoy dancing your way through Heaven!
