Gregory Tryka
Gregory Walter Tryka, born Sunday, October 16, 1949, in Warsaw New York.
On Saturday, May 15, he spread his wings and took to the sky. He is survived by his wife Stephanie, and his son Nicholas (Hannah Bae) Tryka. He grew up in Perry, the son of Walter (Nana) and Bette (Dilgard) Tryka.
Greg worked in law enforcement his whole career and retired as Investigator for UB (Previously at SUNY Geneseo and Brockport). His best friends, also in law enforcement, Dave and Charlie, were like brothers to Greg. Tim Davis, his buddy from birth and Ric Velz, (the reason he never moved!), thank you for the support. To his cousins and relatives, old and new friends; you all meant a great deal to Greg.
His super hero was his dad, an officer (bomber pilot) honored for his daring missions in the Air Force, which hold records in American history. His other hero is his son Nick, an accomplished musician (a talent handed down to him). The newest addition to the family, Hannah, is an incredibly talented artist and in Greg’s heart.
He liked classic cars, boats, fishing, woodworking, playing and listening to music, cards, and of course critiquing every Bills play over and over. Greg’s living room slowly turned into a quasi studio where we shared our passion for music. He was a drummer since he was very young and his mom made the “outfits” for the band. Greg loved his time with The Henchmen and always cherished playing with The Don Hughes Quartet. The past seven years he decided to expand his guitar abilities and amazed me with his commitment and talent.
He called me Angel but now he is my angel. He taught me so much and memories will be embedded in so many songs forever.
And thank you Sharon Wentworth for always being there for him.
