Paul DeGruchy
Rochester – May 11, 1957 – June 5, 2021, age 64. Paul, lovingly known as Gooch or Goochy, was the son of Raoul (Ray) & Mary [Klem] DeGruchy, both deceased. He was the youngest of 4 children. Survived by sister, Mary (Robert) Dixon and two nieces, Phaedra & Mechia Dixon all of Lynnville, TN; brother, Bernard DeGruchy of Roswell, NM; & nephew, Brian (Peyton) DeGruchy of Odessa, TX. Predeceased by his brother, Joseph DeGruchy. Also survived by his Uncle Henry Klem of Parma and Aunt Helen Dutko of East Rochester.
Paul was retired from Xerox where he worked as a Mechanical Engineer. While employed he had many Patents to his name and a team member to many more Patents. Paul loved the lake, his boats, bicycle and his neighbors. He will lovingly be remembered by his Lake Shore Dr. neighborhood family, as a quiet man who was a true friend to all and lent a helping hand to all in need. He used his carpentry and engineering skills to design and build one of a kind systems in many of the neighborhood homes and was known as the neighborhood rail engineer expert. All projects needed the “Gooch” stamp of approval. Paul has a massive collection of cuckoo, grandfather, grandmother, wall and mantle clocks. Every 15 minutes his house is filled with the warm tunes as they ring out.
Paul will be greatly missed by all his family and extended family and friends. He will be remembered wearing his baseball cap and sandals, holding a beer and waving as he rode by on his bike or boat.
Family and friends are invited to Paul’s Memorial Mass at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Hilton on Friday, June 11th at 10 AM. Please follow CDC guidelines. Burial will take place in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Paul to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
