Greece – 06/09/1931 – 12/18/2021. Predeceased by his parents, Florian and Arlene Hettig; and wife, Betty Clark-Hettig. Survived by his wife, Catherine; children, Debra (Mark) Cooley of Batavia, NY and Douglas (Lauri) Hettig of Deltona, FL; special niece, Kathy Castellano, RN of Brighton, NY (promises made, promises kept for Unckie Don and Kay); long-time friend, Steve Lape; step-daughter, Theresa Croce and husband, Rob Faust; step-granddaughter, Michelle and husband, Derek Smith of Hilton, NY, both of whom were always available to help; step-son, Michael and wife, Dr. Jill Stavalone of NJ; step-grandson, Mark and wife Michelle Croce of WI; and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews and dear friends. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to U of R Home Care and Hospice for the care given to Donald.
Family and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass Thursday, December 30th at 1pm at St. Leo’s Church, 110 Old Hojack Lane, Hilton, NY 14468. Private interment. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church or Verona St. Animal Society.
