Churchville – Peacefully on April 12, 2022, just three days short of his 80th birthday, James Frederick Batz returned to the Lord after a short illness at home with his family by his side.
Jim was a veteran of the US Coast Guard and a man who loved his country and his family. He was predeceased by his loving parents, Bernard and Anna Batz and is survived by his wife, Viola Batz, whom he cherished for 67 years. They started dating at age 12 and were to be married for 60 years this July. Jim is also remembered by his four children, Dan (Cathy) Batz, Ken (Nicky) Batz, Sandra (Chris) Austin and Scott (Barb) Batz; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and his dog, Browning, who would sit tirelessly at his feet.
Friends may call at the Leo M. Bean and Sons Funeral Home Friday, April 15th from 4-7pm. His Funeral Service will be held at 9am on Saturday, April 16th at St. Martin de Porres Parish at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, 11 N. Main St. Churchville, NY 14428. The family will proceed to St. Vincent Cemetery in Churchville for his interment with full military honors and then will welcome all friends and guests immediately following at My Kinda Place Restaurant, 7100 W. Buffalo Rd., Churchville, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to UR Medicine Hospice, 2180 Empire Blvd. Webster, NY 14580.
