Rochester – Franz Allen Foltz of Rochester, NY passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at the age of 59. Franz is survived by his loving wife, Sheila Foltz; his devoted parents, Faith and Frederick Foltz; and his sisters, Frances Sonnenberg and Freda Martine. Franz and Sheila have two children, Gabriel Foltz and Jacob Foltz.
Franz graduated from Gettysburg High School in 1981, earned a B.S. in Physics in 1985, a M.A. in Science Policy in 1989 from Penn State University and a Ph.D. in Science, Technology and Society from Renssalaer Polytechnic Institute in 1996. Franz worked for several years as a camp counselor at Lutheran Camp Nawakwa in Biglerville, PA and Lutheran Camp Beisler in Port Murray, NJ, where he met his wife, Sheila.
Franz and Sheila lovingly raised their two sons in Rochester, NY, where he worked as Associate Professor at RIT in Public Policy and Science, Technology and Society. Franz and his family faithfully attended Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Rochester, NY for years.
Family and friends are invited to his memorial service Friday, May 20, 2022 at 4:30pm at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 2415 Chili Ave. Rochester, NY 14624. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church.
