Chrysanthe Zissis
Arkport – Passed away on Monday, May 23, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her beloved husband of 46 years, Peter; parents, Spiros and Anastasia Mitrousis; siblings, Maria and Vasilios; and nephew, James. Chrysanthe leaves behind her daughters, Diane Zissis, Soula (Scott) Prior and Tina Zissis; grandchildren, Jake and Zach Prior. She is also survived by her siblings, Alex (Mary) Mirtrousis, Anastasios (Sophia) Mistrousis, Vicky (Kirk) Psomiadis, and Frederiki Mitrousis; brothers-in-law, Demetrios (Nitsa), George (Marianthi) and Vasilios (Despina) Zissis; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Chrysanthe was born and spent her childhood in Flambouro, Greece and then immigrated to the US as a young adult. She graduated from junior college, St. Basil Academy, and for many years taught the Greek language to students in Indianapolis and then in Rochester where her family settled after arriving from Greece. In 1982, Chrysanthe and her husband, Peter, purchased the Texas Cafe in Hornell where she worked hard to continue its success. Chrysanthe was a kind, smart and strong woman, an amazing and loving wife and mother, and a proud yiayia. “You will forever be in our hearts, Mom.”
Family and friends are invited to call at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 962 East Ave. Rochester, NY 14607 Thursday 9-11am. Funeral Service to immediately follow at 11am at the church. Interment, White Haven Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church.
