Sandra June Hoover
Spencerport: Sandra June Hoover (nee Karl) died July 18, 2022 at age 80. She is survived by her husband, Gary: sister Lynda Kockler (Steve); nephew, Jim Kockler (Kris); great nephews, Luke, Mark and Matthew; nieces, Katy Kockler (Michael Galuzzo) and Ann Adam (Jerry).
Born in Olean, New York, she received an LPN degree from St. Francis School of Nursing, Olean. Initially she worked in the Preemie Section of Highland Hospital after marrying Gary Hoover in 1963 and moving to Rochester. She then worked for a podiatrist in the Sibley Tower Building. She was employed by a plantscaping business, installing and maintaining plants in malls and other businesses. She became a Master Gardener, winning awards in Garden Shows. She joined the Embroiderer’s Guild. She was a great talent in cross stitch embroidery, winning awards in the Genesee Country Museum Needlework Shows.
She and her husband, Gary, did a lot of travelling in the U.S. and Europe. Places visited in the United States included the Amish Country of Pennsylvania, Maine, Cape Cod and Chincoteague, Virginia, which she considered a second home. Other destinations included Monet’s Home and Garden in Giverny, France, Vernon and Paris, Amsterdam and Keukenhof Gardens, Netherlands, Haarlem, Sicily (three times), Bermuda (four times), Southern Italy/Matera, cruise on the Danube/Budapest/Bratislava, Salzberg, Vienna, Prague, London and Cotswolds. Their last trip was to South Africa – Capetown, Krueger Park, Zimbabwe, and Victoria Falls.
She was very active in Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencerport. She had many good friends in the area who will miss her. Per Sandra’s wishes, no services will be held at this time.
