Betty Jean was born June 23, 1944 in Sanford, FL to the late Elizabeth and Johnny George and passed peacefully on January 8, 2023.
She moved to Rochester in 1955 and attended Madison High School before meeting her husband of 61 years, John Henry Jones. She was employed at Strong Memorial Hospital from 1960-69 and then Bausch & Lomb until her retirement in 1998.
Betty was a faithful servant as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses for more than 44 years. Her favorite pastimes were playing spades, zap and completing puzzle books. She was well known for the stylish way she dressed and for her cooking skills.
Betty was predeceased by her siblings, Casey George and Delores Lovette. She leaves behind her husband, John; children, Lawrence Jones, Audrey R. (Eric) McCant and Yvette (Sylvester) Wilkins; 7 grandchildren, Aieshia, Anthony Jay, Johnathan, Jovan, Ashley, Jesse and Daija; 5 great-grandchildren, Janiya, Jayla, Edward “Teddy,” Aiden and Elijah; sister, Sara Lee; many nieces, nephews and a host of beloved family members and dear friends.
