William “Bill” Dennis Amos

William “Bill” Dennis Amos, 76, sadly passed away on January 7, 2023 at the beautiful Lifepath Hospice House with two of his daughters by his side.

Even though he lived in Sun City Center, FL for the past year and a half, he was forever a New York resident at heart. Bill was born in Brooklyn, NY, but grew up with his family in Lindenhurst, NY. He graduated from SUNY at Brockport with a degree in Physical Education and worked for the State of New York Department of Correctional Services where he retired after 32 years as an Education Supervisor-Special Subjects. He enjoyed his retirement by volunteering at Lakeside Memorial Hospital, playing Santa at Brockport Library, and was a proud member of Kiwanis Club of Brockport and the Rotary Club.

A few things to know about Bill: He was an amazing story teller. He loved to read. He had a very green thumb. He and John Wayne were basically best friends. He was a faithful sports fanatic. He was a poet and wood carving artist. He loved his family.

He is predeceased by his wife Maryann, and is survived by his children: Rod Skehan (Beth), David Skehan (Michelle), Melissa DeBlasio (Steve), Christine Cox, and Jeanne Caporaso (Kevin), his 13 grandchildren: Emily, Jessica, James, Matthew, Allyson, Maggie Mae, Genna, Abby, A.J., Emma, Charles, Jake, and Lily, and his faithful goodboy, Calahan.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday March 15th from 12 noon to 3 pm, followed by a service at 3 pm at the Fowler Funeral Home Inc., 340 West Ave., Brockport. A Celebration of Life will be held at Tavern 19, 1549 Lake Rd. N., in Hamlin immediately following services.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, please make a donation in Bill’s name to Lifepath Hospice.
