Passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 68, in the comfort of her home, on Monday, November 18, 2024.
She is survived by her partner, Gary Dunkleberger; her children, Jeffrey (Oussama Zahr) Behrens and Katie Elizabeth Behrens; her sisters, Jean Marks, Bonnie (William) Henshaw, and Sharon Rochelle; and her many nieces and nephews.
Gail’s smile, ringing laugh, and sense of humor were singular.
She was an intellectually curious person who cultivated a love of reading and gardening. She was also an avid baker who took great pride in sharing her desserts.
After becoming a mother, Gail developed a keen interest in childhood education, which inspired her to become a teacher’s aide in Brockport Central School District. Through her time with BCS, Gail fostered a community of deep friendships that sustained her during a decades-long battle with cancer that she approached with bravery and resilience.
Gail is dearly missed by her family.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, November 23, at 10 A.M. at Fowler Funeral Home, in Brockport, N.Y., with a celebration of life to follow at 12 P.M. In Gail’s memory, please make contributions in her honor to the animal rescue Operation Freedom Ride, Inc.
