Carl “Chip” L. McDade – Hamlin, NY
Passed away one day shy of his 79th birthday on Sunday, September 7th, 2025. He is survived by his high school sweetheart, best friend, and beloved wife, Nancy, of 59 years. His loving children, Catherine (Paul) Metz, Debra (Gary) Rafferty-Patton, and Trisha McDade. A proud pap of five cherished grandchildren, Christopher Metz, Bryan Metz, Jacob Rafferty, Mikayla Metz, James Rafferty, as well as his grand-dogs Thor and Jazzi Belle, Sister-in-law Patricia (Mike) Privitera. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and good friends.
Carl is predeceased by his parents, Walter and Dorothy McDade, sister Joan Gruber, brother Walter McDade, and in-laws Leonard and Mary Mrzywka.
Carl, lovingly known as “Chip,” proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War Conflict. After his time in the military, Chip had a rewarding career as a transportation supervisor at Kodak in Rochester, NY. Later, he would go on to open his own trucking business, Superior Freight, in Hamlin, NY.
Known for his generosity and love, Chip was a family man who cherished spending time with and creating memories with his family. His grandchildren were his world, and he made sure to let all five of them know that they were all his “Favorite”. A man with a heart of gold, he loved helping his neighbors and friends. Especially his neighbors, Chris and John McGraw, and the family would like to thank them for their friendship, love, and support for over 49 years.
He enjoyed and shared many hobbies with his family. Chip was an avid outdoorsman, from hunting to golfing to skiing, and riding his John Deere tractor. He was also a classic car enthusiast and owned multiple Corvettes and Camaros that he proudly showed in local car shows. Chip was a huge Pittsburgh Steelers Fan and was blessed to celebrate a big Steelers win before God called him home.

A funeral service will be held at St. Paul Lutheran at 158 East Ave., Hilton, NY, on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at 4 PM, with burial at the WNY National Cemetery, Corfu, NY, at a later date.
