HAMLIN: Bauch, Wayne, a lifelong resident of Hamlin, New York, passed away on December 3, 2025. Born on March 23, 1949, in Brockport, Wayne spent his entire life deeply rooted in the community he loved and served so faithfully.

A graduate of Brockport High School, Wayne went on to become co-manager at Bauch’s IGA, where he worked diligently and took pride in serving local families. His professional life was marked by dedication and a strong work ethic that reflected his commitment to those around him.

Wayne’s devotion to service extended far beyond his career. For nearly 60 years, he was an active member of the Hamlin Fire Department and Exempts. His steadfast presence and leadership made a lasting impact on the department and the broader community. In addition to his fire service, Wayne dedicated over four decades to the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. He served as commander on several occasions, guiding others with integrity and a deep sense of responsibility.

Wayne was known for his generous spirit and unwavering willingness to help others. Whether responding to emergencies or lending a hand to neighbors, he consistently put the needs of others before his own. His legacy is one of selflessness and quiet strength.

Outside of his public service, Wayne found joy in simple pleasures and hands-on hobbies. He was an avid woodworker who took pride in crafting with care. He loved baking and barbecuing for family gatherings and friends alike—his meals were always made with love. Boating brought him peace, as did spending time outdoors doing yardwork or reading under his favorite tree.
