AREA: Pollman, Ernest William, age 82, of Indian Lake, NY, died April 10, 2026. He was predeceased by his devoted wife of 53 years, Claire Lawrence (2019). Ernie is survived by his daughter, Jennifer; his son, Ernest Jr.; his twin sister, Eileen (Pollman) Bentley; granddog, Rondack; many nieces and nephews; and countless friends who became family. Ernie began his 32‑year career teaching Technology at Gates–Chili Middle School in 1966. A natural educator with endless patience and a knack for making learning hands‑on and fun, he missed only five days of work in more than three decades. He was active in Rotary International, public libraries, Ham radio groups, the Gates Chili Federal Credit Union, the Holley Planning Board, the Indian Lake Blue Mountain Lake Fish & Game Club, and the Indian Lake Snowarriors. A man of diverse talents, Ernie was a skilled beekeeper and ceramist. He was an outdoor enthusiast, enjoying snowshoeing, racing across the lake on his homemade ice boat, skiing, paddling, hiking, snowmobiling, battling bogs on the lake, and admiring nature. He was also an avid traveler, logging more than 100,000 miles with his family in their motorhome. Together, they visited 43 states and much of Canada. After retiring, Ernie settled in Indian Lake, NY, where he spent the first 10 years of his life. He found deep joy living on his beloved Adirondack Lake and delighted in sharing its beauty with everyone who visited 

In keeping with Ernie’s wishes, there are no calling hours or funeral services scheduled. AREA: Saile, Mary C., of Rochester, died April 11, 2026, at age 89. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald Saile (2021), and sons, Steven Saile (2019) and David Saile (2011). Mary is survived by her grandchildren, Michael Saile, Michelle (John) Vogl, Jeremy Saile, and Jyace Saile; and four great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her love of family and the special moments she shared with those closest to her.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no formal services.  Arrangements entrusted to the Thomas E. Burger Funeral Home, Hilton.

BROCKPORT: Beaney, Elaine Sue, of Rochester, originally from Brockport, died April 13, 2026, at age 70. She was predeceased by her father, Mervyn Beaney; mother, Gloria Allen; and sister, Jeri Ann Beaney. Elaine is survived by two daughters, Emily (Chris) Turner of North Carolina, and Claire Post of Chili; five grandchildren, Kaelah, Jonah, Jacob, Lanaya, and Jameson; brothers, Bill Beaney of Hilton and Paul Beaney of Florida; nieces, Kaylee, Shannon, and Abby; nephew, Braden; longtime partner, Ed Giralico; several aunts, uncles, cousins, other family, and friends. Elaine will be remembered for her outgoing, bubbly personality (she never knew a stranger), her unconditional love for her daughters and grandchildren, and her contagious laugh, which could be heard from miles away and brightened every room. Elaine fought a hard battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS/Lou Gehrig’s Disease), but it never stopped her from living life. She was lovingly assisted by nurses and staff at Monroe Community Hospital’s respiratory unit during the last weeks of her life.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Elaine’s honor at a date to be determined. Donations can be made to Monroe Community Hospital or the ALS Association in Elaine’s memory.

BROCKPORT: Goodwin, Sharon (Peers), age 73, died on April 12, 2026. Born July 21, 1952, Sharon, known to many as Sherry, was the daughter of the late Paul Peers and Helen (Graff) Peers. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers-in-law, John Alaimo and Wesley Nieman, and her nephews, David and Jeffrey Nieman. She is survived by her loving husband of almost 55 years, David Goodwin; daughters, Renee (Brian) Bell and Jennifer (Scott) McAllister; sister, Sheila (Peers) Nieman; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins; beloved dogs, Smartie and Risk; and a community of friends, especially those from the dog agility world. Sherry’s life was defined by her deep love of dogs. In the mid-1970s, she trained as a dog groomer and went on to open her own business, Prestigious Pets, in the 1980s. She dedicated decades to her craft, building lasting relationships with clients and their pets before retiring in 2020. Sherry volunteered with a greyhound rescue and adoption organization, traveling to New Hampshire to help rescue retired track dogs and place them in loving homes. In the mid-1990s, she discovered dog agility. She loved the challenge of the sport and the bond it strengthened with her dogs.

BROCKPORT: Mercer, James Jr., aged 62, of Brockport, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2026, after a courageous battle with long-term respiratory complications from COVID-19. He leaves behind a legacy defined by his passion for coaching the sport of volleyball and the countless lives he changed through coaching.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, James Mercer; his grandparents, Perry and Julia Mercer, and James and Marjorie Farrell; his dear godmother, Maureen Farrell-Gotham; his cousin, Brian Hicks; and many cherished aunts and uncles. He is survived by his loving mother, Patricia; his brother, Perry (Gina); and his sister, Dawn (Patrick) Didas. He was a proud uncle to his nephews, Jordan (Jessica) Mercer, Justin (Emilee) Mercer, and Cody (Emily) Didas, and his niece, Chelsea Didas and her fiancé, Jadon Ceravolo.  In the past year, Jim also became a Great Uncle to Aurora Didas and Jackson Mercer.  Jim is also survived by loving aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as his “volleyball family.” 

Jim’s greatest joy was found on the volleyball court. To him, volleyball was more than just a game; it was a way to build community and character. Over a career spent mentoring athletes, he became much more than a coach—he was instrumental in leading and a pillar of support for his players and colleagues. His “volleyball family” was expansive, reaching across generations of athletes who were inspired by his wisdom and his ability to see potential in every player.  One of his proudest accomplishments was coaching the Churchville-Chili Boys to a Section V championship in 1997. 

At the time of his passing, Jim was coaching the Sun Setters Volleyball Club, a role that brought him great joy and pride. Jim’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family, his many friends, and every player whom he helped on the court.

Services will be held at the Fowler Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 22.  Calling hours will be from 3:00-5:00 pm with a memorial service and sharing of memories at 5:00 pm.   A Celebration of Life will be held at the Bill Gray’s Taproom in Brockport afterward. HAMLIN: Earl, Daniel W., formerly of Ogdensburg, NY, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the age of 77. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Debra (DeRoche) Earl; son, James J. Earl, and daughter, Nicole (Tony) Luksic. He is also survived by his sister, Dale (Doug) Denner; brothers, James A. Earl and Kenneth (Sue) Earl; and several nieces and nephews. Also, his little buddy Mia and his grand-kitties Lois and Clark. Dan was predeceased by his parents, James Haskell and Harriet (Stirpe) Earl; sister, Gloria Earl, and in-laws, Joseph and Hazel (Yerdon) DeRoche.

Dan was a veteran of the US Navy and served during the Vietnam War. After his time in the service, he moved to Rochester, NY, and was employed for many years by Eastman Kodak and then Lowe’s in Greece, NY.

Dan’s legacy is one of boundless love, hard work, and devotion to his family. He was a remarkable man who will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was also an avid Buffalo Bills fan. He left so many beautiful memories.

HILTON: Fleming, Judy Elaine, age 82, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, independence, and simple joys.

A lifelong Hilton resident, Judy was a well-known member of the community. She worked as a bus aide at the Hilton Bus Garage for nearly a decade, where she formed lasting bonds with many colleagues. She also had a special place in her heart for the Hilton Sports Boosters and cherished spending her Friday nights at local football games. Above all, Judy loved connecting with others, often spending hours chatting over coffee with her close friends.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, John (Bill) Fleming, in 1993, and her parents, Lawrence and Vivian Monagan. Judy is survived by her devoted son, David (Mailee) Fleming; her brothers, Wayne Monagan and Carl (Suzanne) Pilon; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Judy will be remembered for her independent spirit and the quiet joy she brought to everyone around her.

Services will be held privately for the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hilton Sports Boosters in Judy’s memory. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 1:00 pm at the Braddock Bay Tavern and Grill.

HILTON: Martin, Penny, died April 13, 2026, at age 78. She was predeceased by her daughter, Tricia Desiato; parents, Glenn and Anne Bonawitz; and six siblings. She is survived by her husband, Brian Martin Sr.; sons, Brian Martin Jr. and John (Audrey) Martin; grandchildren, Mariah Desiato, Joe Desiato, Brian Martin, Kelly Martin, and Andrew Martin; and sister-in-law, Marilyn Martin-Beanum. Penny worked for the Episcopal Home in Rochester as a receptionist. She was a talented cook and enjoyed tending to her gardens, playing cards, being with her friends, and spending time with her grandchildren.

A Graveside Service will be held at a later date with private Interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. HOLLEY: Jensen, Judith L., died April 12, 2026, at age 90. She is survived by her sister, Jill Elman (Charles), and niece, Linda Seto (Steve). She was predeceased by her parents, LeRoy and Reva Jensen. Judith earned a doctorate in Education with a focus on Physical Education and the History of Women in Sports. She was a faculty member at SUNY Brockport until her retirement. A dedicated volunteer, Judith contributed extensively to the Genesee Country Village & Museum in Mumford and the Susan B. Anthony House in Rochester, sharing her passion for history and education.

KENDALL: Snyder, Earl G., died April 8, 2026, at age 87.  He was predeceased by his parents, Robert (Alberta) Snyder; brothers, George Sr. (Patricia) and Robert Jr. (Judy); and nephew, George Snyder Jr. He is survived by his nephews, Jeffrey (Brenda) Snyder, Robert and Donald Snyder, and William Howder; nieces, Darlene Snyder and Charlene Cole; many great-nieces and great-nephews; “his boys,” Mike (Cassandra) Schultz and Dan (Melissa) Schultz and their children. Earl was a 65-year member of the Kendall Fire Department. He was a retired bus mechanic for the Kendall Central School District. Earl always participated in community events and selflessly volunteered at the Kendall Carnival. He was a very caring and loving person who enjoyed the simple things in life.

His Funeral Service was held on April 14 at Fowler Funeral Home, Brockport. Interment in Beechwood Cemetery, Kendall. Contributions can be made to the Kendall Fire Department in his memory.

SPENCERPORT: Reed, Joyce Julian, born September 15, 1939, died on April 9, 2026. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Michael P. Reed, Sr.; parents, Margaret McFall Julian and William Raymond Julian; siblings, Lorraine Faircloth, Patricia Gardner, Diane Skeide, William David Julian, and James Julian; and great-grandchild, Emma Lawniczak. Joyce is survived by her loving children, Denise Reed Lamoreaux, Michael (Liane) Reed Jr., and Patricia (Mike) Bennett; sisters, Carol (Bill) Bucher and Billie (Red) Taylor; seven grandchildren, Caitlin (John) Lawniczak, Justin (Valerie) Lamoreaux, John (Emily) Bennett, Alex Bennett, Tyler (Vicky Beatham) Bennett, Michaela Reed, and Brendan Reed; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Joyce’s deep love for her family was evident in the many gatherings she and her husband, Mike, hosted over the years. She could often be found cheering from the sidelines at her children’s and grandchildren’s school and sporting events, taking great pride and joy in their accomplishments.

There will be no prior calling hours. Burial will take place at Allegany Cemetery in Allegany, New York, at the convenience of the family. Donations in her memory can be made to Western New York Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and/or the Golisano NICU.  Arrangements entrusted to Walker Brother Funeral Home, Spencerport.
