Hilton CSD announces School-Related Professional of the Year
Cheryl Fiore, teacher assistant at Northwood Elementary School, was named School-Related Professional (SRP) of the Year at the staff convocation at Hilton High School on September 3.
Fiore has spent all 16 years of her career in Hilton as a teacher assistant at Northwood. Before joining the district, she was a substitute for three years. Those who nominated her for the award wrote that Fiore “arrives daily determined to make a difference in the lives of the children we teach. Her positive outlook and her high level of energy are contagious.”
Her coworkers describe her as tenacious, flexible, confident, patient, and someone with a wonderful sense of humor and positive attitude.
“The one thing that I enjoy most about my job is when I have been working with a student and that ‘light bulb’ goes on and they are proud of themselves,” said Fiore.
The other finalists were: Ed Haight, head groundsman with Buildings and Grounds, and Janet Jablonski, Molly Jardas and Beth Monfiletto, all teaching assistants at Hilton High School.
The SRP of the Year Award is presented to a staff member who displays exceptional skill and dedication on the job and promotes positive relationships with parents, students, co-workers and the community. Recipients receive an “Outstanding Employee Award” certificate, a special parking spot, and a pin to recognize their achievements.
