Tenth CWD Program approved for Pell Grant funding
The Skilled Trades CNC Machining Program at Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES Center for Workforce Development (CWD) at the Rochester Tech Park, 160 Wallace Way, Building 9 in Gates is now Pell Grant-approved. The program joins nine other CWD programs, including two other Skilled Trades programs, five Professional Office Careers programs, and the Dental Assistant and Computer Support Specialist programs that are approved for Federal Pell Grant funding.
To become Pell-approved, a program must have been offered for at least two years and be nationally accredited. In New York, it must also be approved by the New York State Education Department.
To qualify for a Federal Pell Grant, students must meet citizenship and income requirements, have a high school diploma or high school equivalency but not a bachelor’s degree, and be enrolled in a qualified program. Unlike a loan, Pell Grants do not need to be repaid and offer a way for low-income students to access quality career training.
Full-time job placement for students who completed the most recent CNC Machining Program at CWD is 87 percent. For more inforamtion about CWD go to www.monroe2cwd.edu or call 349-9100.
